Kidderminster has long been known as the carpet capital of Britain as it’s the birthplace of leading carpet manufacturer Brockway Carpets. The town has now officially opened a Museum of Carpet using £1.9 lottery funding. The town has been campaigning for a museum to mark their leading industry for over 30 years.
The Production Director at Brockway Carpets, Nick Walley confirmed that they have designed and manufactured a trio of bespoke carpets worth around £15,000 for the museum - these are not cheap carpets but will look beautiful in the museum. The museum officially opened its doors to the public on October 20th 2012. Lets hope the many visitors will wipe their feet well before walking on these carpets as they are not cheap carpet and will need to be well looked after.
